The Redhill SCITT is dedicated to training secondary teachers who raise the achievement of all students. A thorough understanding of the curriculum, the best teaching and learning strategies and effective relationship building lie at the heart of our programme.
With such a wide range of professionals and settings, we are proud to be able to tailor a training experience to meet the needs of each of our trainees. Every trainee works alongside an experienced mentor and has the continuous support of an ITT Co-ordinator throughout their placements. Our integrated professional development sessions are delivered by active practitioners who are also trained facilitators and coaches.
We partner with NTU to offer the PGCE element of our programme. This exciting blend of training alongside outstanding practitioners in our schools and theoretical underpinning from university will allow you to gain the knowledge, skills and professional attitudes that will allow you to embark on a personal journey towards being an excellent teacher and future leader. The majority of our trainees choose this school-based approach due to the wealth of experience it can offer, the extensive hands-on practice and the continuous support which runs alongside the training.

Our team of lead practitioners, including ASTs and Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) are outstanding middle and senior leaders with the skills to support individuals and teams in other schools. Our team has a clear understanding of what constitutes outstanding leadership practice in their area of expertise. In addition, each lead practitioner is equipped with the skills required to help other leaders to achieve this outstanding practice within their own context.
Our courses carefully blend significant hands-on teaching experience in our schools with extensive professional development training and critical thinking and theory, that is so important for understanding the principles of teaching and learning. Weekly training days ensure trainees have a thorough underpinning of additional crucial aspects of teaching such a behaviour management and professional development.
With our diverse range of partner schools, we offer trainees an opportunity to work with expert practitioners at all stages of their training. Trainees will work closely with their subject lead and department teams, immersing themselves within lesson planning, delivery and gaining a deep understanding of teaching strategies across Key Stage 3 and beyond.
The majority of our former trainees have gone on to establish successful careers with many progressing successfully into leadership roles. Application and Interview skills are supported within the course, to ensure our trainees feel confident and ready to apply for NQT positions.
